the cabin
Based on cabins from ferries on the river Thames I built a cabin as my final work for the academy in Maastricht. I was at a turning point, at the start of the rest of my life an decided that what I needed was a control room. A place from where I could steer in the right direction. The dimensions of the cabin are related to my length. I can stand up in the cabin without bumping my head against the roof, I can spread my arms, it is my size. From the moment I built this cabin I use sailing as a metaphor for finding my identity.
